HPT Pharma Sought to Help Tool-Up Recommissioned Blister Machine

WARRINGTON, PA – APRIL XX, 2019 – HPT Pharma, a recognized leader in the design, development and manufacture of blister tooling for the packaging of oral solids in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets, was approached by a company to help outfit a recommissioned large format (300mm web width) thermoformer with a complete set of tooling. The catch, they needed the project completed in a month.
“We were familiar with the model, but since we had not made tooling for this specific machine previously, Kevin Ravasio, HPT Pharma’s Engineering Manager, and myself conducted a site visit to fully document the blister machine.” said Joe Fetterman, HPT Pharma Sales Engineer. “We received a purchase order Thursday afternoon and we were on a plane and on site with the customer Monday morning.”
The recommissioned blister machine, which had been in storage for a number of years, required a complete set of tooling including: forming tools with plug assist, guide rails, upper and lower seal tools, perforation/score combination tool, punch die, and lowerator. The entire project was designed, manufactured, assembled, tested, and shipped in less than five weeks. Joe returned to the client’s facility with Mike Hyjurick, Tool & Die Maker, to assist in the installation of the components.
“The client was thrilled with the outcome. Our team was able to assist with the installation and make any minor modifications on site to eliminate any delays. We were making production quality blisters in one business day,” said Joe. “
